Leaning Into Vulnerability with Rosie Battimelli

Leaning Into Vulnerability with Rosie Battimelli

What’s your daily wellness routine?

I have a morning routine which sets me up for the day, which consists of the things I believe take care of me before I step out into the world. I wake up and make a matcha latte (actually with a few drops of oil in sometimes) I then sit with the ceremonial matcha and meditate for 20 minutes. Followed by a short page of journaling about what I'm grateful for, along with written affirmations. I then move for 20-30 minutes, whether that's mobility, yoga, dancing. Followed by an 2 minute ice bath, hot shower and moisturise. This routine has helped me love myself and give to myself so that I have the energy to give to others throughout the day. Alongside this I workout for 60-90 minutes 3-4 times per week.

What is one thing that someone could do today that would make a huge improvement to their overall health?

My best advice it to feel into your vulnerability, be ok with feeling fear, the courage will come if you just start. By adding just one thing or changing something in your life can make a huge difference. Implementing a morning routine is so important as it means you're taking control of your life and taking your power back before all the emails, messages and challenges of life flood in. It took me a whole year to figure out a morning routine, so I would say to just start and trial and error what works and what doesn't. Meditation has been the most beneficial thing but people want to see quick results. You have to do it daily to see a difference, sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's hard, but you just sit anyway; that's the point.

How do you overcome anxiety?

For me there are several things that help when I come over with anxiety. I sit with the feeling and really feel it, letting it flood over me. I then take a few very deep slow breaths and repeat to myself 'this is just an emotion, a feeling and it will pass. It does not define me, it is ok to not feel ok, this too shall pass.' I then either put some yoga nidra on, light some sage incense, meditate, have a hot herbal drink, oil/balm or get in the hot shower. I've found hot and cold waters to be really healing in my life. If you're out and it happens, then first steps still work wonders.
